Audio Editing and me.

So I have been directing Seminar over at Pendant Productions for about 3 months.. and there are a few things I have learned.

  1. the first 25 lines are the hardest: I say this for real.. and it's alwasy the same. the first 25 lines of every script I find myself going back and forth for hours trying the get the pacing and effects just right. after that it's easy, the lines start to flow the effects just fall into place and the music fills itself in nicely. But, those first 25 lines just kill you.
  2. Never plan to be done on time: I try to plan it out every time, this many lines a night and it will hit the due date for release. I read the scripts I spend 2 days pulling effects and then go and find myself changing direction and have to pull more effects.. pretty much making me have wasted 2 days. It's a simple fact that I am Insane.. I get that.
  3. Time management is not my strong suit: this could have probably ben combined with the one above, but, really it is it's own monster. Since the time you spend watching TV (Hey Heroes is still decent) and the time you spend trying to write.. and the time i spend wasting time.. it all gets in the way of Mixing. So Now I reward myself. I get to my line break, I get a game.. I get the show done I get 3 days of rest. It's all about building in your own reward system. chocolate works well.

Day late for talk like a pirate day

My pirate name is:

Bloody Harry Vane

Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. You tend to blend into the background occaisionally, but that's okay, because it's much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!!

So now I get home, I spend 5 hours mixing, then 3 hours gaming.. I get ot bed at 3 am.. and I'm back up around 7:30.. I need to start drinking again, Life was so much easier.

Superbowl Sunday

So it's superbowl sunday. For some reason it's not as magical as when I was a kid. Maybe it's modern technology, I means when I was a kid it was really all that happened, that day. the whole family met up( typically at the relative who had the most room.. and a BBQ-grill. While the adulkts talked and drank inside the kids would play outside (usually with a football) and when game time came around you were excited that you would get to spend an extra hour awake.

I mean you never knew till the next day who won, since all the kids had to go to school the next day, but the whole first half of the game would be recapped all day at school ( and for a select few the half-time show).

But now that I'm an adult with a 4-year old. It's not as magical, I watch it mostly for the commercials. Which isn't even necessary anymore since they will be online a day before hand. So I sit here working on a few of my sites and updating a blog.

I guess when your a kid the light's shine a bit brighter, and the greatest thing is being able to just feel older. This all seems to reverse after thirty, you want to talk to your younger-self and cure a few of his "mis-conceptions".

Well back to trolling Digg and Fark, while I glance at the TV to see which commercial is winning.

SimCity Classic GPL’ed - called Micropolis

Source code for SimCity has been released under the GPLv3. For legal reasons the open source version was renamed Micropolis, which was apparently the original working title.

2008

The new year is here.. man is it kinda depressing.

Mostly because this is an Election year and no matter who we choose , we all lose. I guess there are upsides to be viewed. Least we got a new Ball for times square this year.

Ain't it purty.

Well If nothing else at least it's new, and that's something.
